Successful first virtual ELF Patient Organisation Networking Day: access talks and content on the event platform

Our first virtual Patient Organisation Networking Day was a great success. We were delighted to have 83 delegates and speakers from over 20 countries join us on 5 September 2020 to discuss the important topics of psychosocial wellbeing and COVID-19.

Expert speakers included patient organisation representatives, individual patient advocates, clinical psychologists and respiratory physicians, who all provided information and inspiration.  All the talks can be accessed on the event platform, as well as the 16 posters and a list of registered delegates. We encourage you to share the platform link with anyone you think would be interested in accessing the content.

The platform also provides answers to the additional speaker questions and a summary of the main points made in the breakout discussions on how patient organisations responded and adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Delegates told us that some of the best things about the day were:

“Recognition of the importance of psychosocial aspects and commonality of symptoms across lung conditions that can make us learn from one another whether professionals, patients or commissioners…. a lot of thought had clearly gone into the day”

“Feeling part of a huge group of people committed to improving our own and other patients’ lives.”

“Being able to join it from my own home – much easier for patients, saving money, time and better for the climate”.

Some suggestions for improvement included more time for breakout discussions, and to make presentations more interactive and engaging for the audience.

The day was a wonderful way to say farewell to Isabel Saraiva as her 3-year mandate as ELF Chair came to an end, and to welcome the new ELF Chair Kjeld Hansen.

We are planning to develop more webinars based on delegate feedback and will keep you informed via our newsletter and website.
